Reaction to Week 7 and 8

I guess I will double up on my reaction blog for the last 2 weeks. First off I've fallen back on hard times again. I technically had a chance to win on Week 7 (instead I lost 75-44 against the worst team in the league) but I would have had to know a few things about my starters that just wasnt possible at the time that the game would have started. So I dont feel too bad about that. Although I should have dropped Colston sooner because he has just disappointed me all year long. The only thing that makes me feel ok about him is that Brees has done poorly all year long as well, so if one did well the other would do well as well. I left Hillman on the bench and he gave me 21 points instead of putting him in place of Oliver (who only gave me 7), but considering the SF D/ST versus the KC D/ST, I think I made the right decision, even though that was a net change of 14 points against me. I also could have put him in in place of Bernard, but who knew that he would only put up 1 point (for a net difference of 20 points). Also I left Beckham Jr on my bench with his 16 points, and I could have had him in for Jeffery (scored 0 points, for a net change of 16) or Marshall (scored 4, for a net of 12). I honestly thought that the Bears offense would shred the Dolphins D/ST and score points for me, but I guess I was wrong. So between those 2 players the minimum net difference in players would have been 26 points, which would have given me 70 points and made me feel better, but i still could have won with other moves, but at that point the possibilities are so wide that i could not have known them from the beginning. So I guess being able to win the match is just a moral victory at this point in the season. With that in mind, Week 8 actually was easier for me to loose, because my opponent outscored me by 34, and I would not have been able to make up the 34 even with throwing my bench in to help me. And there is not much to say about it. My team is coming up short now, especially after starting warm with the points, then turning downward, then a surprisingly great game in week 6, now its been bad the last 2 weeks. I have both Bears WR and TE and QB....and the WR have let me down the most this year. I threw it all in with them and it just hasnt worked for me. So I'm turning my attention to the Broncos and cheering them on in real football and letting my team do whatever it can this year. Hopefully I will catch a break in the playoffs and get 7th place. Which at this point would be a plus for me and be just as good as making the winners bracket.

Preview for week 8o

Sorry about the late blog post, and the missing post in the middle. I have been busy with applications and job interviews the last few days.

So I'm 42-5 right now, but have a shot to tie for 6th and then parlay that into a playoff spot with a little luck the rest of the year. So my lineup is pretty set this week, with the only exception being my WR spot where I'm figuring out between Marshall, Jeffery, Floyd, v-Jax and Colston. I'm thinking about doubling down on Marshall and Jeffery....but I don't know, I might end up with Floyd instead of Jeffery because of the yards and TD he could have against a poor Eagles Secondary this week. Otherwise I have Cutler as a solid play this week, and Bernard and Bell as my starting RB. Then Bennett as my starting TE for the week is prob the best I can get, other than maybe Jordan Reed, but then I'm just gambling for the rest of the year. And the Lions, I just have to hope they don't put up an egg against Atlanta and I should do ok this week. Oh and the Cards K should be good for me too this week. So here is hoping I can catch a break and move to 3-5 on the season. Honestly I am a few moves (and a little bit of luck) away from being 4-3 or 4-4 and in control of my own destiny this year.  Now I'm at the whims of luck and other teams bad luck.

Preview for week 7

I apologize for this not coming out in time for the game last night, but things happened. In the mean time, i made the mistake of putting the Patriots D/ST in the starting spot over the Lions. But who knew that the Jets would do so well against them. I'm hoping that the Saints destroy the Lions on Sunday, otherwise i wont feel so good about benching them again. For the moment, I am going all in on the Bears and the ability of that offense to put up good numbers against any defense this year. Except for when they play the Lions, that could get a bit tricky. I also am putting my faith in Bell to perform until Jennings can make it back. The one thing that worries me about Jennings is that he might lose a fair amount of touches to Williams and have it be a 50-50 split. That would greatly reduce his value as a RB1 and make the point of me having him a bit tricky. For now instead of having a projected victory margin of 109-80, I am now only projected to win 97-92. I am debating weather to start Floyd over Jeffery or Marshall but i dont think i'd actually make the move right now. If anything maybe i'd move Oliver out, but i really want him to do well on my FLEX spot. This will REALLY hurt if i lose here.  Then i'm screwed and really hate myself for not trading AP for Forte. But then again I'm going to try and not let that one (not) trade define my season. But i'll hang my hat this year on picking Cutler out of the waste-bin of the latter rounds of the draft and just wish for next year.
